Need a gift? Here’s a great
idea!
A Girlfriends on the Go book
makes a great gift not only for a friend’s birthday,
mom’s anniversary or a special niece’s graduation, but
will also delight the hostess of your neighborhood
summer barbeque. And, don’t forget about those
bridesmaid’s gifts. How about giving a book with a gift
certificate to one of the shops or cafés inside?
Ideas for Summer Fun with Family
and Friends!
1. Have a jewelry, ceramic or birthday party at one of
the many craft shops featured in Girlfriends on the Go.
2. Go swimming in one of the many fun community pools in
the area. Be sure to ride the Lazy River and zoom down
the big slides they each have.
3. Take the family or gather some friends and go to one
of the many
free musical concerts in the community parks around
town.
4.Take a picnic and head to Forest Park for the day or
evening. Be
sure to take a boat ride in the Grand Basin with all the
fountains...Try not to get wet!!!
5.Need a little history and fun? Ride the Katy Bike
Trail and learn
about Lewis and Clark. There are places to eat, drink
and shop along the way.
6. Of course, go to a Cardinal’s Baseball game and eat
several bags of peanuts!
7. Visit all the St. Louis museums and enjoy their gift
shops and cafés.
8. Use the Girlfriends on the Go guide to visit many of
the cupcake and coffee bars with outdoor seating and
enjoy one of their cool coffee drinks and/or treats.
Yum!
9.Find a cool spot inside or out and plan a shopping
adventure using the NEW 4th Edition of our Girlfriends
on the Go Book. So FUN!
10.Enjoy whatever you are doing with family and
friends...It will make memories for everyone! Have a
great summer.

Amelia’s (636) 728-0455
17041 Baxter Rd. 63005
Growing up, my sisters and I loved to tumble into our beds that
had been made with “sunshine sheets,” sheets line-dried in the
Indiana sunshine. Although for me, it’s difficult to exceed the
sensory delight of that childhood pleasure, the luxury bedding
found at Amelia’s may do just that. Whether you prefer cotton or
silk, Amelia’s has bed linens that any well-appointed bed would
welcome: classic Sferra Brothers Italian bedding, all-natural
SDH, hand-embroidered Dea and luxurious silk Kumi Kookoon.
Ensembles, including high thread count bed sheets, silky
coverlets and matelasse shams, are displayed on stately beds by
Brass Beds of Virginia. The look is sumptuous and fantastic,
plus it’s so easy to make the bed. The fine quality of the
sheets makes them a perfect substitute for the traditional
bedspread. Add a fluffy duvet, triple-folded at the foot of the
bed and presto, when it’s beddy-bye time (for all who know me,
my favorite time of day!) simply draw the duvet up under your
chin. In addition to bedding, you’ll find fabulous bath linens,
bath accessories and sleepwear. Finally, the not-so-well-kept
secret is out: Amelia’s carries Kai fragrances as featured on
Oprah’s 2007 List of Favorite Things.
WineRoad Boutique & Gallery (636) 228-4234
5501 Locust St. 63332
A saloon of the 1850s, located on the corner of Lower and Locust
Streets, is NOW a chic boutique filled with clothing and
accessories to outfit girlfriends from head to toe. Deb, the
owner and buyer, looks for color, comfort and style in her
wardrobe collections. One of her favorite designers, Flax, is
featured throughout the store. Deb carries a wide assortment of
skirts, pants, tops and jackets in graphic prints, florals and
solids that can easily be mixed and matched. Other artistic
clothing lines are the Double D Ranch and Pat Dahnke from Texas
and Alberto Makali out of New York. WineRoad also has an awesome
selection of accessories to complete your outfit: Treska and
Obsidian designer jewelry and Mary Frances collectible handbags,
fun belts, textured scarves and darling shoes and sandals. Deb
carries many unique gifts too. I particularly noticed the Zent’s
candles and soaps, cute magnets, note cards and some adorable,
expandable, brightly-colored, hand cloths. They would be a great
gift for a busy mom or friend who travels frequently. As you
shop, I’m sure you will enjoy the art work displayed throughout.
The paintings are by local artists who participate in Augusta’s
Plein Air Artist Contest every April. You are more than welcome
to visit and watch them paint an old building, a home or a
beautiful landscape from around the area. What a pleasant way to
spend a beautiful spring day in Augusta!
